Older American's Month Celebration

Each May, the West Chicago Park District celebrates Older Americans Month (OAM) to honor and recognize the countless contributions that older adults make to our communities. Their wisdom, experience, and talents enrich the lives of everyone around them. We invite all members of our community to join us at this special celebration. Enjoy a wonderful lunch, delicious desserts, refreshing beverages, and great company as we come together to recognize the impact of older adults in our community.

ADULT PROGRAMS

Discover a world of adult recreation at the West Chicago Park District. Engage in art workshops, board game play, social gatherings, trips and more. Our adult programs encourage social connections, offering opportunities to make friends and build a sense of community.

Social Gatherings

Each month we gather at the ARC Center to chat with our friends, enjoy entertainment and, of course, eat.

Pre-registration is required for all social gatherings so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone!

There is a registration deadline and space is limited. Note: Please do not bring a dish to pass; all gatherings will be catered.

Adult Social Gatherings

Trips

Come join us as we travel to places nearby. Whether its seeing new sights, hearing new music or trying new food, there is something for everybodyAll day trips are in cooperation with the Warrenville and Winfield Park Districts and may depart from Warrenville, West Chicago or Winfield Park Districts. Departure locations will be emailed 1-week prior to trip date. After the registration deadline, trip registrations can be refunded only if a spot can be filled by a participant on the waitlist.

Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. 

Anderson Japanese Gardens

Join us for a day of enriching the mind and spirit at the Anderson Japanese Gardens. The group will tour the gardens with a guide and then enjoy the gardens at your own pace. Bring your camera for beautiful photos. Dress for fluctuating weather conditions, gardens are indoors. Lunch will be at Fresco Garden restaurant  & is on your own. Garden entrance fees and transportation are included. This trip has a great deal of walking. Please wear comfortable shoes.

South Pacific

Program Code: 411301-04Registration Deadline: May 1 at 12:00pm.

If you don't have a dream, how are you gonna have a dream come true?

Set in a tropical paradise with warm sea breezes, breathless sunsets and B-29 Bombers. South Pacific is an uplifting musical tale that follows World War II Armed Services personnel, Ensign Nellie Forbush and Lt. Joseph Cable through spy missions, war-time drama and romance. Enjoy the show in orchestra seats. Fee includes transportation and theater ticket. Lunch is on your own at a nearby restaurant.
