ADULT PROGRAMS

Discover a world of adult recreation at the West Chicago Park District. Engage in art workshops, board game play, social gatherings, trips and more. Our adult programs encourage social connections, offering opportunities to make friends and build a sense of community.

Social Gatherings

Each month we gather at the ARC Center to chat with our friends, enjoy entertainment and, of course, eat.

Pre-registration is required for all social gatherings so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone!

There is a registration deadline and space is limited. Note: Please do not bring a dish to pass; all gatherings will be catered.

Adult Social Gatherings

Older American's Month Celebration

Each May, the West Chicago Park District celebrates Older Americans Month (OAM) to honor and recognize the countless contributions that older adults make to our communities. Their wisdom, experience, and talents enrich the lives of everyone around them. We invite all members of our community to join us at this special celebration. Enjoy a wonderful lunch, delicious desserts, refreshing beverages, and great company as we come together to recognize the impact of older adults in our community.

Summer Teatime (Ages 50+)

Whether you're sipping on refreshing beverages or enjoying light seasonal treats, it's the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends, relax, and celebrate the joys of summer. With sunshine in the air and delightful conversation all around, this luncheon promises to be an afternoon to remember. Join us for a bright and refreshing escape, where every sip and bite capture the essence of summer. 

Independence Day Picnic (Ages 50+)

Program Code: 211100_02 Registration deadline: July 3 at 12:00pm.

Join us for a fun indoor picnic featuring classic backyard games and a delicious summer menu of burgers and hot dogs. Enjoy great food, friendly competition, and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for socializing and celebrating summer together.

Name That Tune Luncheon (Ages 50+)

Program Code: 211100_03 Registration deadline: August 7 at 12:00pm.

Take a break, enjoy a delicious lunch, and put your knowledge to the test at our Quiz & Chow event! Whether you're a trivia buff or just looking to have fun with friends and colleagues, this is the perfect opportunity to mix good food with a little friendly competition.
Expect a lighthearted trivia session covering everything from pop culture to general knowledge, while enjoying a tasty spread of lunch favorites. Prizes, laughter, and good vibes are all part of the fun! Don’t miss out on this perfect combo of food and brainpower—come for the chow, stay for the quiz!

Trips

Come join us as we travel to places nearby. Whether its seeing new sights, hearing new music or trying new food, there is something for everybodyAll day trips are in cooperation with the Warrenville and Winfield Park Districts and may depart from Warrenville, West Chicago or Winfield Park Districts. Departure locations will be emailed 1-week prior to trip date. After the registration deadline, trip registrations can be refunded only if a spot can be filled by a participant on the waitlist.

Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. 

Adult Trips

Pride of the Oregon Boat Cruise (Ages 50+)

Program Code: 211204_01 | Registration Deadline: May 15

The group will travel to Oregon, IL to board the Pride of Oregon riverboat. Trip includes a relaxing summer river cruise, lunch, and transportation. Lunch to be determined. The sail length is 11:30am - 1:30pm. Join your friends on this relaxing river cruise with lunch while sailing! Enjoy a beautiful day on the Rock River cruising and watching for the eagles overhead! Fee includes transportation, lunch and cruise. Lunch entrée selection is TBD served with vegetables, starch, dessert, and iced tea aboard the River Boat while cruising.

The Patty Waszak Show (Ages 21+) 

Program Code: 211204_02 | Registration Deadline: June 30

Dynamic Singer! Hilarious comedienne! Award winning songwriter! Patty plays the "Sweetest Sax this side of Heaven"! She comes to us from Pigeon Forge, TN a major tourist destination (near Dollywood, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park). She performs for motorcoach groups from all across America. Her music variety show is now the "Longest running Variety Show" in the Great Smoky Mountains. Lunch is included at White Fence Farm. You will have a lunch choice of either "World's Greatest Chicken" or Fried Shrimp, served with all the White Fence Farm accompaniments. Lunch and show are included with the trip.

Explore Cantigny Park Gardens (Ages 21+)

Spend a delightful day at Cantigny Park, one of Chicagoland’s hidden gems. This adult trip features a professionally guided tour of Cantigny’s stunning formal gardens, where you’ll enjoy vibrant seasonal displays, beautifully manicured landscapes, and serene walking paths. Learn about the unique plant varieties, garden design, and the park’s rich horticultural heritage. After the tour, enjoy free time exploring the grounds, visiting the museum, & grab a bite at the cafe (lunch on your own). Whether you're a gardening enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful day surrounded by nature, this trip offers a perfect escape. Moderate walking required. Please wear comfortable shoes. 

Magic Meadows Alpacas (Ages 21+)

Program Code: 211204_04 | Registration Deadline: September 1

Join us for a delightful day at Magic Meadows Alpacas, a beautiful Suri alpaca farm where you’ll enjoy a hands-on, up-close experience with these gentle and fascinating animals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about alpacas, feed them, and tour the barn. There will be plenty of photo opportunities-especially with the famous Rainer- who has been featured on WGN Spotlight Chicago and Fox 32 Chicago! Fee includes transportation, private barn tour, and grain for feeding the alpacas. Lunch will be on your own at a nearby restaurant.

These hands-on experiences are perfect for a night out with friends or a little time for yourself. You’ll leave with something you created, and maybe a few new friendships, too.

Illuminate: Candle Crafting Experience

Experience a relaxing and inspiring evening of creativity with LaTonya & Co. as you design your own luxury soy candle. Learn about fragrance blending, wick selection, and the art of hand-pouring while discovering how scent and ambiance come together to create a cozy atmosphere. This class offers a calm, social environment—perfect for a night out with friends or a little self-care time. Adults may bring their own beverage to enjoy responsibly. All materials are provided, and everyone leaves with a beautifully crafted candle and lasting memories.

Adult Cookie Decorating

Program Code: 201306

Join us for a fun, relaxing session, and dive into a wave of creativity! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned baker, this hands-on workshop will teach you how to decorate six stunning theme-inspired cookies. You'll learn expert techniques using royal icing, piping, and layering. All supplies are provided but participants should bring their own container to take cookies home. Class is held at Fountain View Recreation Center, Carol Stream. 

Paint Your Own Hat

Unleash your creativity in this fun and relaxing one-day workshop! Design and paint your own stylish hat using vibrant acrylic pants and simple techniques. No prior painting experience is required - this class is perfect for beginners looking to create a unique, wearable piece of art to take home. All materials provided. Class is held at Fountain View Recreation Center, Carol Stream.
