ADULT PROGRAMS

Discover a world of adult recreation at the West Chicago Park District. Engage in art workshops, board game play, social gatherings, trips and more. Our adult programs encourage social connections, offering opportunities to make friends and build a sense of community.

Paint & Sip

Join us for an evening of paint & sip as Pinot’s Palette brings the studio to us! Painters 21 and over may bring their own bottle of wine with them to enjoy. All painting supplies included. 

Social Gatherings

Each month we gather at the ARC Center to chat with our friends, enjoy entertainment and, of course, eat.

Pre-registration is required for all social gatherings so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone!

There is a registration deadline and space is limited. Note: Please do not bring a dish to pass; all gatherings will be catered.

Older American's Month Celebration

Each year in May, the West Chicago Park District celebrates Older Americans Month (OAM) to recognize the countless contributions that older adults make to our communities. Their time, experience, and talents enrich the lives of those around them. We invite all members of our community regardless of their age to join us in this celebration. Enjoy a lunch, dessert, refreshments, and community.

Spring Tea Time

Join us for tea, sandwiches, and other goodies as you listen to a piano performance. Wear your fanciest hat for a best-dressed contest! 

Registration deadline: June 7 at 12:00pm.

Independence Day Picnic

Join us for some outdoor fun as we celebrate Old Glory! We’ll play some backyard games and enjoy burgers and dogs off the grill. 

Registration deadline: July 5 at 12:00pm.

Let's Make a Deal

We’re bringing the classic game show of deals, trades, andchoices to you! Outlandish costumes are optional, but we’d loveto see you wear one! 

Registration deadline: August 1 at 12:00pm.

Trips

Come join us as we travel to places nearby. Whether its seeing new sights, hearing new music or trying new food, there is something for everybodyAll day trips are in cooperation with the Warrenville and Winfield Park Districts and may depart from Warrenville, West Chicago or Winfield Park Districts. Departure locations will be emailed 1-week prior to trip date. After the registration deadline, trip registrations can be refunded only if a spot can be filled by a participant on the waitlist.

Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. 

Anderson Japanese Gardens

Join us for a day of enriching the mind and spirit at the Anderson Japanese Gardens. The group will tour the gardens with a guide and then enjoy the gardens at your own pace.  Bring your camera for beautiful photos. Garden entrance fees and transportation are included. This trip has a great deal of walking with limited garden tour seating.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

Before she was the Carole King we know today, she was a young songwriter from Brooklyn trying to make a name for herself. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom as part of the hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin and going on to become one of the most successful singer, songwriter, and musicians in music history.

Pride of Oregon Boat Cruise & Lunch

Join your friends on this relaxing river cruise with lunch while sailing! The group will travel to Oregon, IL to board the Pride of Oregon riverboat. The trip includes a relaxing river cruise, lunch, and transportation. The sail length is 11:30am-1:30pm. Fee includes transportation, lunch, and the cruise. Lunch entrée selection is Beef Bordelaise served with vegetable, starch, dessert, and beverage aboard the River Boat while cruising.

Registration deadline: May 15 at 12:00pm.

Starved Rock Land & Water Cruise

The tour begins with lunch in the historic dining room at the Lodge, followed by a narrated trolley tour with history and legends of the area. The trolley will then take you to the new river boat, the “Eagle I,” where you will see the east end of the Starved Rock State Park by water. There are restrooms available throughout the tour, and minimal walking is involved.

Ellwood Mansion & Garden Tour

Join us for a wonderful day touring the Ellwood Mansion and gardens. As you visit, you will be aware of the comfort and quality of workmanship that wealth could provide. At the same time, you will also sense the warmth and hospitality of a family home that was lived in for almost 100 years. Lunch will be on your own at the Lincoln Inn. Fee includes tour and transportation. This trip has a great amount of walking.

Olivia Newton-John Tribute Show & Luncheon

Celebrate the hits of Australia’s Sweetheart, Olivia Newton- John! This entertaining tribute showcases Olivia’s most-loved signature songs with spot-on “Olivia-sounding” vocals. With costume changes, lots of interesting Olivia trivia, and even a live guitar accompanist, you’re sure to recall why we all remain so Hopelessly Devoted to Olivia! Lunch is served at 11:30am; show to follow.
