Mahjong

This isn't a computer or phone game! Mahjong or mah-jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. The West Chicago Park District will be offering Open Mahjong play in the spring, so come on out to this short FREE informational session to learn about the game. Refreshments will be served. Pre=Registration for all Mahjong offerings is required.

Informational Sessions - FREE

January 14 - 10:00am to 11:00am

February 21 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Mahjong Open Play - $10

Join us for our spring session of Mahjong Open Play on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Bring your own set. Fee covers all Tuesdays or Wednesdays in the spring session but does not include required Mahjong Card which must be purchased here: nationalmahjonggleague.org.

Tuesdays, March 7 - May 30 at 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Wednesdays March 1 - May 31 at 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Social Gatherings

Pre-Registration is required for all social gatherings so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone!

 

Note - DO NOT BRING A DISH TO PASS, all gatherings will be catered. There is a registration deadline and space is limited.

Into the Woods March 4, 2023

Paramount Theater in Aurora, IL

Join us for a trip to the beautiful Paramount Theatre in Aurora for Into the Woods! NOMINATED FOR 10 TONY AWARDS, INCLUDING BEST MUSICAL AND WINNER OF BEST SCORE. Into the Woods, a seminal work by the late Stephen Sondheim, reimagines Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, Cinderella and other Brothers Grimm characters in one of the most astounding and original fairytale retellings the stage has ever seen. Artistic Director Jim Corti directs Paramount's journey Into the Woods. Trip includes transportation and theater ticket. Lunch is on your own at a nearby restaurant.

IL Holocaust Museum & Education Tour and Lunch April 5, 2023

Skokie, IL

This informative trip will include a docent-guided tour through the Karkomi Holocaust Exhibition, where you will learn about the Holocaust, pre-war European life, the rise of Nazism, and the post-war experiences of survivors. This trip also includes a self-guided tour through their most current exhibit "The Negro Motorist Green Book." The final exhibit "Survivor Stories Experience" will introduce virtual hologram survivors and you can ask questions to the holograms of Fritzie Fritzshall, Aaron Elster, and other Survivors in this award-winning innovative exhibition. Lunch is included in this trip. A deli boxed lunch will be provided at the museum café and will contain a sandwich, fruit, pickle, coleslaw, cookie, and a bottle of water. At time of registration please let us know if you would like a turkey, corned beef, or egg salad sandwich. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available upon request.

When he scams his way into a teaching job meant for his roommate, Dewey turns a class of straight-A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. Dewey's love of music and rock soon inspires the kids to pursue what they love. Based on the hit movie starring Jack Black, School of Rock inspires, entertains and flat-out rocks. Fee includes includes transportation from the Winfield Park District located at 0N020 County Farm Rd, Winfield, IL 60190 , show and lunch buffet. Please plan to arrive by 11:45 a.m. as bus will leave promptly at 12:00 p.m.
