Discover a world of adult recreation at the West Chicago Park District. Engage in art workshops, board game play, social gatherings, trips and more. Our adult programs encourage social connections, offering opportunities to make friends and build a sense of community.

Social Gatherings
Each month we gather at the ARC Center to chat with our friends, enjoy entertainment and, of course, eat.
Pre-registration is required for all social gatherings so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone!
There is a registration deadline and space is limited. Note: Please do not bring a dish to pass; all gatherings will be catered.
Adult Social Gatherings
Thanksgiving Feast (Ages 50+)

Join us at the ARC Center for a warm and welcoming Thanksgiving celebration! Enjoy a delicious traditional Thanksgiving meal featuring holiday favorites while gathering with friends and community members in the spirit of gratitude and togetherness. This festive luncheon is the perfect way to celebrate the season with great food, conversation, and community cheer. Don’t miss this special holiday tradition!
Holiday Celebration (Ages 50+)

Ring in the holiday season with joy and cheer at our festive Holiday Celebration! Join us for an afternoon of seasonal fun, laughter, and community spirit. To add a little extra excitement, please bring a wrapped gift (valued at $5.00 or less) to participate in our holiday gift exchange. It’s a great way to spread smiles and enjoy the magic of the season together!
Trips
Come join us as we travel to places nearby. Whether its seeing new sights, hearing new music or trying new food, there is something for everybody! All day trips are in cooperation with the Warrenville and Winfield Park Districts and may depart from Warrenville, West Chicago or Winfield Park Districts. Departure locations will be emailed 1-week prior to trip date. After the registration deadline, trip registrations can be refunded only if a spot can be filled by a participant on the waitlist.
Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Adult Trips
A Christmas Carol (Ages 21+)

Rediscover the magic of the holiday season with A Christmas Carol, the timeless tale that warms hearts and reminds us all of the true spirit of Christmas. Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and lonely miser, is visited on Christmas Eve by three ghosts who take him on a journey through his past, present, and future. Along the way, he learns how to once again experience joy, compassion, and the power of generosity.
IL Holocaust Museum & Education Tour with Lunch (Ages 55+)

This informative trip will include a docent-guided tour through the newly refurbished museum, where you will learn about the Holocaust, pre-war life, the rise of Nazism, and the post-war experiences of survivors. This trip also includes a Holographic Theater private showing. Lunch is included in this trip. A deli boxed lunch will be provided at the museum café. It will contain a sandwich trio of mini turkey, corned beef, and egg salad, fruit, pickle, coleslaw, cookie, and a bottle of water. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available upon request 1 week in advance.
Sunday in the Park with George (Ages 21+)

Art, love, and life beautifully collide in Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece inspired by Georges Seurat’s famous painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” With a soaring score and witty lyrics that only Sondheim could write, Sunday in the Park with George celebrates the beautiful mess that is creativity. This Tony Award-winning musical will leave you inspired and in awe of the colors that make up every moment of life. Enjoy the show in orchestra seats. Fee includes transportation and theater ticket. Lunch is on your own at a nearby restaurant.

These hands-on experiences are perfect for a night out with friends or a little time for yourself. You’ll leave with something you created, and maybe a few new friendships, too.

Adult Cookie Decorating
Join us for a fun, relaxing session, and dive into a wave of creativity! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned baker, this hands-on workshop will teach you how to decorate six stunning theme-inspired cookies. You'll learn expert techniques using royal icing, piping, and layering. All supplies are provided but participants should bring their own container to take cookies home. Class is held at Fountain View Recreation Center, Carol Stream.
