If you have questions regarding the North Pole Adventure event

(formerly the “Polar Express”), please take a moment to review the most frequently asked questions below.


General Information


What happened to the “Polar Express”?

Due to copyright laws the name “Polar Express” can no longer be used. The new “North Pole Adventure” will replace the previous event.




When can I purchase tickets?

West Chicago residents may purchase tickets now. Non-resident registration begins on Monday, December 2nd.


How do I buy tickets?

Tickets can be purchased through your household account online at or in person at the ARC Center. In order to add individuals to an existing household please email, call 630.231.9474 or stop by the ARC Center. To create a new household go to and click on ‘Registration’ or come in to the ARC Center.


I live in West Chicago but my family doesn’t, can I buy their tickets now?

Because of the popularity of this event and the household registration process, residents may not purchase tickets for non-residents.


Is there a wait list?

Yes, it is strongly recommended to join a waiting list if the train you want is full. However, as it is rare that space will open on the train of your choice it is also recommended to register for your second train choice. Please keep in mind that non-residents may not get on the waiting list until non-resident registration has begun.


Do I need to pay for my infant?

Infants are free only if sitting on an adults lap the entire time. No car seats or strollers are allowed on the train. Any participant taking up a seat regardless of age must purchase a ticket.


How do I get my tickets?

After you register you will receive a receipt with the name of each person registered on it. Tickets are distributed upon arrival. Registrants must show a photo ID.


Can I register at the train station?

Unfortunately, the North Pole Adventure will be sold out and will be unable to accept any additional participants. Please ensure that each participant is registered prior to your arrival at the train station as additional registration is not possible.


Day of information


When should I arrive?

Please check your receipt for train departure and arrive at least 15 minutes earlier than specified.


Do I need to pay for parking?

No, parking is free on the weekends and you are welcome to park anywhere in the Metra lot, including permitted spaces.


Where do I go?

You will board at the West Chicago Train Station. When you arrive, please go inside the train station and look for Santa’s helper who will be ready to check in your group.


What do I need to check in?

Please bring your receipt and a photo I.D. Each member of your group will need to be checked in in order to receive their ticket.


If I’m running late will you wait for me?

Unfortunately, we are unable to wait for late guests so please make sure you arrive on time.


Can I pick my seat?

Participants are previously assigned to either a green or a red car. In order to provide the adventure for as many participants as possible, you may be asked to sit 3 per seat.


What should I do if there is bad weather?

Please check Rainout Line for updates on the North Pole Adventure by 1:00pm. 630-225-7876 Extension 12.


Is there food?

Yes, once you board a snack is provided. Children receive chocolate milk, adults receive water and everyone receives cookies.  


What if I have a milk or nut allergy?
