Summer Camp 2011

General Camp Information

West Chicago Parks District's Summer Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association. Campers age 3 years through 14 years enjoy an abundance of activities to keep them busy all summer long. In addition to exploring Illinois parks such as White Pines, Blackwell, Herrick Lake and Starved Rock campers will swim, hike, participate in group activities and restoration and stewardship projects, overnights, float building, participation in a parade and other age appropriate activities. Parent's can rest assured that while your child is at summer camp they are being supervised by Camp Counselor's who are 18+ and undergo over 24 hours of training prior to the start of summer camp each year. Training for our staff includes but is not limited to special education training, group interaction techniques, positive approach to discipline, CPR, first aid. Our dedicated Camp Counselors return year after year and range primarily from the Education and Psychology fields in their daily jobs and/or their pursuit of college degrees. ***Camp pricing... Each camp has 5 sessions and several options for each of those sessions. The following is a brief explanation:

* Full Session: will be the first price listed and is for the entire 2 weeks of that session

* Week 1: will be the second price and is for the first week of the 2 week session

* Week 2: will be the third price listed and is for the second week of the 2 week session

* 3 Days Per Week: will be the fourth price listed and is for 3 days in week 1 and 3 days in week 2 of the 2 week session

* Early Drop-off at 7:15am and late Pick-up at 6pm are offered at an additional fee of $30R/$36NR per session

* There is a late pick-up fee of $20 per 15 minutes or portion of

* Register Early! A $20R/$24NR late registration fee will be added to session fee if you register after the deadline

  And now Ladies and Gentlemen lets meet the camps...

GIVEITAGO

Hey Mommy and Daddy...that's Give it a go! This camp is geared towards preschoolers ages 3 - 5. Each session will have theme based activities including games, crafts, songs and fun! Children will take a field trip each session. Children will also attend Take 5 everyday at Turtle Splash for swimming. Schedules will go home on the first day of camp and parents will be required to provide a car seat for all field trips. All children must be toilet trained. Please bring a backpack and a snack everyday and come ready for a whole lot of FUN! This program will be held with camp Ibeokay campers who attend all day summer camp.

IBEOKAY

Hey Mommy and Daddy...that's I be okay! Camp Ibeokay will be similar to summer camp, but modified for preschool age children. Camp Ibeokay will be held at the Reed Keppler Cabin along with Camp Giveitago. They will go on field trips and to Turtle Splash for swimming. On most days Ibeokay campers will have a built in quiet time (If, desired campers can bring a favorite animal or blanket for this time). Campers will have a morning and afternoon snack provided everyday, but will need to bring their own lunch. Camp Ibeokay will be held at Wegner Elementary School for session 3 due to Railroad Days.

BETCHACAN

My Mommy and Daddy always tell me...Bet ya can! Camp Betchcan includes swimming lessons on Monday - Thursday the second week of sessions 1 - 4 at Turtle Splash Water Park. Swim lessons will start at 8am. We ask that on lesson days campers be dropped off at Turtle Splash Water Park between 7:30 and 8am with swim suits on. If you have other children in camp we will provide transportation for them to Wegner. If your child is registered for 3 days per week you can bring your child to the pool for the swim lesson they will be missing.

CANI

IDONTWANNA

STOMP...STOMP...STOMP... I Don't Wanna clean my room but I'd love to go hang out with my friends at camp! During sessions 4 and 5 Camp Idontwanna will participate in Mighty Acorns Nature Camp - two days. The Mighty Acorns is a grant funded program through the Conservation Foundation. Through games, activities and nature walks  two mornings per week, campers will learn about and observe animals and plants in their native habitats and explore wetlands, prairies and/or woodlands in West Chicago Parks District sites. Children will participate in local restoration and other stewardship projects to improve the habitat for animals at Park District sites.

DOIHAFTA

Really Mom, Do I Have To? Camp Doihafta campers enjoy 2 overnights (must have excellent behavior) and a trip to Great America. The overnights are during sessions 2 and 5 and the trip to Great America will be during session 5 (session fees are higher for these 2 sessions). Campers and their counselors will go from camp to the Reed Keppler cabin for dinner, games and activities; spend the night ; have breakfast; and return to camp the next morning for their regularly scheduled camp day. Camp Doihafta will also participate in community service projects such as helping the Humanitarian Service Project and others throughout the summer.

NOTAGEN

NOT AGAIN!!! Spend your last week off of school with the West Chicago Park District as we have planned many activities to keep you entertained. We will provide a fun and safe environment for games, crafts, field trips and other activities geared toward school age kids. A morning and afternoon snack are provided, but campers will need to bring a lunch everyday (unless otherwise noted on the camp schedule).
