Special Events - Over Night Campout with the Civil War Generals
Back to Special Events
This is a first of its kind event. Bring your family and your tent, and sit around the camp fire, talk and learn about the Civil War, from the Generals and their wives. Have the chance to meet Generals Grant, Lee, and Custer. Watch and learn how they strategically planned for the war. Experience how they lived on a daily basis, how they cooked meals, baked pies, and made the tools they needed from nature all around. Watch several performances by the Generals and a reenactment of the surrender by General Lee. This event will prove to be a memory maker.
In addition, West Chicago Historical Museum will also be on hand to share West Chicago's part in the Civil War and the names of some of the families whose son and daughter participated.
