The Fitness Station is located at 103 West Washington Street in West Chicago. It is our hope that this facility is a prelude to a larger facility in the future. The Fitness Station will house our Karate Programs, Tumbling Programs, Expanded Fitness Classes, Cardio and Free Weight Equipment, Towel Service, Lounge, Vending and Childcare Services (kid stop). *Owners and employees of businesses and governmental agencies located within West Chicago Park District or City of West Chicago boundaries can register for Fitness Station membership passes at West Chicago Park District resident fees. A pay stub dated within the last 30 days at the time of registration is required.

Karate (additional fees apply):
- Dragon Tots (ages 3 – 6): Focuses on a structured and semi-traditional format that emphasizes self-discipline, accountability, goal setting and respect. Participants will learn basic techniques with an emphasis on coordination, balance, timing and repetition. Immediate techniques, like breaking away from an attacker, how to deal with bullies, and how to respond to strangers will also be taught. The class is structured in a traditional format that allows students to feel comfortable and accept new challenges while building self-confidence. Students have the opportunity to earn colored belt markers at the end of the session.
- Beginner (ages 6 and up): Focuses on a structured and semi-traditional format that emphasizes self-discipline, accountability, goal setting and respect. Participants will learn basic techniques with an emphasis on coordination, balance, timing and repetition. Immediate techniques, like breaking away from an attacker, how to deal with bullies, and how to respond to strangers will also be taught. The class is structured in a traditional format that allows students to feel comfortable and accept new challenges while building self-confidence. Students have the opportunity to earn colored belt markers at the end of the session.
- Intermediate (ages 6 and up): This class is conducted in a structured and traditional format that emphasizes self-discipline, accountability, goal setting and respect. Participants will learn basic techniques with an emphasis on flow, power, technique and transition. Participants will begin learning falls, basic throws, wrist controls, joint locks, and advanced forms (Kata). Group dynamics will be practiced while working with other students on their techniques. The class is structured in a traditional format that allows students to feel comfortable and accept new challenges while building self-confidence. Students have the opportunity to earn colored belt markers at the end of the session.
- Advanced (ages 6 and up): Emphasizes power, flow, timing, balance, focus, intent, transition, breathing, combination techniques and weapons training. Multiple attacker techniques are learned and demonstrated. The class stresses self-discipline, goal setting, self-defense and accountability. Participants will learn counter techniques, self-defense applications and intermediate techniques, with an emphasis on coordination, balance, timing and repetition. Each participant is measured on their own abilities while practicing in a group structured environment and graded by an advancement model. Students have the opportunity to earn colored belt ranks at the end of the session.
- Adult Karate (ages 18 and up)

Fitness (additional fees apply and not all classes are offered every season):
- Adventure Boot Camp (ages 16 and up): Lose weight, feel great! Join the largest fitness boot camp program in the world! With this class you can eliminate 3-5% body fat, lose 5-15 pounds, decrease your mid section by 1-3", improve your endurance by 25% and have a 100% increase in self-confidence.
- Boot Camp (ages 16 and up): Blast fat, burn calories & jump start your metabolism in this motivating, fun, boot camp style class! Take part in cardio and athletic drills, relays, obstacle courses, endurance training, plyometrics, and more. Weather permitting, we'll even take it outside! Whether your just getting started or an athlete, looking for motivation, a challenging workout, or just to have fun, this class has something for everyone.
- Body Sculpt and Flexibility (ages 16 and up): Challenge your muscles with a wide variety of exercise using bands, weights, steps, stability balls and mat exercise. Enhance your everyday physical performance through strength and flexibility training. Speed up your metabolism, strengthen your bones, strengthen your core and improve your joint mobility and range of motion. Transform your body into the lean, sculptured physique you’ve always wanted. This class is a must have in any workout program.
- Cardio Kickboxing (ages 16 and up): Punch and kick your way into the body you want today! Blast away fat and calories by combining punching and kicking techniques, partner skills, kicking drills and interval workouts. Balance drills will target and tone the lower body and improve balance and coordination. Kickboxing is an easy to follow yet intense workout for all fitness levels. Top it off with a challenging abdominal and toning segment using a variety of equipment.
- Fit for Life Exercises (ages 55 and up): Join us for an hour of fun aerobic exercise routines and strength training using weights and bands that will strengthen your muscles, improve your endurance and increase flexibility. This class has a per class fee of $3.00.
- NIA (ages 16 and up): NIA is a new and exciting expressive for non-impact movement with varying rhythms and speeds influenced by dance, martial arts and diverse music. NIA techniques create power, flexibility, increased range-of-motion, muscle definition and cardiovascular conditioning.
- Pilates (ages 16 and up): Look better and feel great with Pilates. Pilates tones, streamlines and realigns the body. Stress is reduced and balance, endurance and circulation are improved. Exercises are taught slowly with an emphasis on proper form and breathing.
- Sit to be Fit (ages 16 and up): All exercises in this class are done seated or can be done standing using the aid of a chair. Whether you sit at a desk all day, are overweight, elderly or wheelchair bound, this class is for anyone who prefers a more gentle approach to exercise. Gently working your muscles will increase circulation, joint mobility, prevent and relieve arthritis pain, and reduce the risk of heart disease. No matter what your age, size or circumstance, the benefits of this class are endless.
- Step 50/50 (ages 16 and up): Get the best of both worlds with a class that incorporates cardio and strength training! The first half of class will be warm-up followed by fun, basic step aerobics that will be certain to get your heart pumping. The second half of class will be focused on strength training using a variety of equipment to tone the upper and lower body.
- Strength Training (ages 16 and up): Join Monique for a new strength training workout using hand-held weights that will target all the major muscle groups that give our bodies their shape. We will work the larger muscle groups of the chest, back and thighs and the smaller muscle groups of the shoulders, arms and calves. Emphasis is always on careful form and technique that will safely bring you to a new level of fitness.
- Tai Chi (ages 16 and up ): Tai Chi provides a beneficial impact on health through moving meditation. The exercises are easy to do , have low aerobic impact and are done slowly with natural body alignment, movement and breathing. Tai Chi is the practice of kinetics, musculature, skeletal and ligament alignment, moving posture and breathing.
- Yoga (ages 16 and up): Relax and rejuvenate your mind and body with the practice of yoga. Join our certified instructor for a form of exercise that increases strength, flexibility, and balance while reducing stress and promoting many wonderful health benefits.
- Zumba (ages 16 and up): Join the party and add some fun to your workout. Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away. Easy to learn cardiovascular movements are done to Latin American rhythms with an emphasis on fun.
