Recreation Department
- Turtle Splash Water Park:
We will begin taking applications for Turtle Splash Water Park on February 1, 2012. Interviews will take place the end of February/beginning of March. The following positions are available: Deck Attendant (ages 14+), Life Guard (ages 16+), Admissions (ages 16+), Swim Instructor (ages 14+), Manager (ages 21+). Applications are located at the bottom of this page.

- Summer Camp Counselors:
We will begin accepting applications for Summer Camp Counselors on March 1, 2012. Summer Camp Counselors must be 18+ and have knowledge and experience working with young children (ages 3 to 14). Applications are located at the bottom of this page. Please fill out the application and email it to Chelsea McKone, Recreation Coordinator or drop it off at the Administrative Office.
- Music Instructors:
The West Chicago Park District is looking for Music Instructors for various instruments. Potential Instructors will work independently as Independent Contractors and teach youth through adults. If you are interested and would like more information please contact Chelsea McKone, Recreation Coordinator.

Dance Instructor:
Location: West Chicago Park District – Administrative Building
Salary: $15 - $19 per hour/DOE
The West Chicago Park District School of Dance is seeking a part-time dance instructor. Under the supervision of the Performing Arts Coordinator this Dance Instructor will provide instruction to students of all ages in the disciplines including, but not limited to: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, creative movement, and musical theatre. Previous dance instruction is required. Specific skills include: Understanding of age specific learning and emotional needs for different ages of students; showing enthusiasm about working with children, volunteers, and artists and the ability to manage classroom time or events in a flexible, calm, patient, and forgiving manner; Must have strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, self motivated and the ability to set own working hours and manage own time; Must be punctual, persistent, a problem solver, creative, and have sustained energy; Able to work long hours with a very busy schedule and still be able to lead by example and motivate program participants; Other various duties will include choreography, being present at rehearsals and performances, and working as a team member. The dance instructor must be 18 years of age or older and comfortable working alone with children. The instructor should be able to demonstrate methods and techniques for the class, observe and correct dance students as they attempt to do it themselves, and offer suggestions to students on how to improve their dance techniques. Bus Driver:
Location: West Chicago Park District – Administrative Building
Salary: $11.00 per hour
Is your talent driving a bus? Do you enjoy being on the road and meeting new people? The West Chicago Park District is looking for a bus driver for our after school program (school days 2pm to 4pm), our senior transportation service (substitute for regular driver 8am to 5pm during vacation and sick days) and our community trips (schedule varies). Applicants must have a valid CDL preferably with air brake endorsement, willingness to obtain CPR/AED training within 6 months of employment. Swim Instructor:
Location: West Chicago Park District – Indoor and Outdoor Pool
Salary: $7.75 - $12.00 per hour
The West Chicago Park District is looking for a Swim Instructor. Under supervision of the Recreation Coordinator (Aquatics) the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching children and adults of various swimming abilities how to swim. He instructs enrolled students in water safety as specified in level programs and teaches course material effectively, completing the course material for each level. He adapts teaching style to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives.
He is a part time employee working from 2 – 40 hours a week. Work shifts are variable. The Swim Instructor must be at least 14 years of age. He must be able to complete CPR, OSHA, and First Aid certifications, provided by West Chicago Park District. Applicant must be available to work mornings, evenings and weekends.
